Express Hockey believes that in order to be the “Program of Choice” we must continually evolve by remaining current on developments in the hockey world and community by searching out the latest in teaching, coaching methods, player fitness and conditioning and playing opportunities that develop the players, so we remain a “Leading Edge Program of Excellence”.
At Express Hockey, we believe in skill based instruction. We show the young players how to perform a specific skill on the ice, then we ask the player to perform it, we then correct behavior and have them repeat the skill until it is done correctly. We do not "tell" our kids how to do something, we "show" them the correct way and push them to master that skill. That is at the very core of our development model, and will always be.
Skills are the foundation and a strong foundation will allow these players to turn these skills into tactics and then turn these skills and tactics into precise and quick game execution.
The Program emphasizes and demonstrates core values like hard work, passion, discipline, strong sense of will, teamwork, commitment and dedication, with all of these values presented in a positive and fun environment. We motivate the players to be passionate about the game and ensure they set aspirational goals and continually strive to achieve, while acting as leaders for younger players in the program through our Junior Instructor opportunities. We believe that the Express Program will be an integral part in the development of core values that will be instrumental in helping these young men and women succeed in all aspects of their lives.
We expect our instructors to be leaders and act as role models for all the players in the program in terms of their ability to continually guide every player on the proper execution of their skills and to always ensure they demonstrate the expected values.
