Matthew was born and raised in Miramichi with two younger brothers and two dedicated hockey parents. He is currently finishing his degree in Civil Engineering (December 2014) at the University of New Brunswick. The past two summers he has lived in Saint John working at the Irving Oil Refinery as a structural engineering student.
Matt has played a leadership role with every team he played on including Midget AAA, 2007 Canada Games team, Major Junior with the Moncton Wildcats and Junior A with the Woodstock Slammers & Miramichi Timberwolves. Matt firmly believes that being a team player, working hard, and having good character are all valuable traits that you can carry with you far beyond your hockey careers.
Matt would tell you that Express hockey offers a program that enables young players to hone their skills, while installing in them the mentality and hockey knowhow it takes to be an elite hockey player in today’s game.
